Dentist
Dr. Adame graduated from Donna High School in 1978 then attended the University of Texas in Austin Pharmacy School where he graduated in 1983. He immediately began Dental School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and received his DDS in 1987. He was accepted into the Indian Health Service’s two-year tour on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana and upon completing this in 1989, he returned to his hometown in Donna where he opened his first dental office. This office continues to see patients full time and is staffed by his associate dentists. Dr. Adame also opened up a practice in Edinburg which is where he usually sees patients along with his associate dentists, hygienists and a wonderful staff. He also sees patients for dental sleep medicine on Fridays at the Pulmonary and Sleep Center of the Valley in McAllen.
Dr. Adame joins an elite group of only a few dentists in the State of Texas as a Diplomat of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). He is also the dental director of an accredited American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) facility-Adame Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Adame has been chosen to be on faculty for the AADSM to teach such courses as the Essentials Course, the Practical Demonstration Course, the Mastery Series which prepared dentists to become diplomates and the AADSM’s annual meeting. He has also lectured on the topic of dental sleep medicine to many societies and organizations (see list below). He has also been elected to serve on the AADSM’s board of directors. He is also a clinical associate for the Pulmonary and Sleep Center of the RGV. He has been awarded the Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and has served on the board and several officer positions in the Texas AGD (TAGD) including President in 2000. His local chapter has also nominated him for Texas Dentist of the Year. He has been interviewed along with a primary care physician on the topic of “An Example of Collaboration between a DDS and a PCP on dental sleep medicine” and an article was published in the Journal of Dental Sleep Medicine, January 2020 (publications listed below). He has also conducted a clinical trial and the results are being reviewed for publication in a peer-reviewed dental sleep medicine journal.
He has been married over 33 years to his lovely wife Cordy and they have two children. His son is an internal medicine resident and is married to another physician who is a pediatrics resident and they are both in UTMB in Galveston. His daughter is in her 3rd year of dental school in San Antonio. He enjoys training for and occasionally competing in triathlons. He and his wife enjoy traveling together and with family and friends.
